One Window, One Tree - Building Industry's First One for One Program
The One Window, One Tree campaign by INTUS Windows is a sustainability initiative that plants a tree for every window or door purchased. "This program was launched on Earth Day 2018 as a way to create a dramatic positive environmental impact. Together with our partners and project teams, we want to not only create highly energy-efficient buildings but also to improve the global environment by giving back to nature and improving our planet‘s health." – says Sales & Marketing Director Kurtis Perdelwitz.
Kurtis has been a key part of this project since its inception, so he constantly follows the results and emphasizes that the team is doing great on the path to achieving the main goal - to plant 1,000,000 trees annually over 10 years.
The INTUS Windows team pays a lot of attention to finding suitable places to plant trees all across North America. Priority is given to regions of their building projects. Another important factor - the most beneficial impact on the local environment. The trees that are planted through the One Window, One Tree campaign are native species that are well-suited to the local climate.
These plantings are a joint effort between INTUS team members, their families, project teams, community members, and our partners. "I‘ve been very fortunate to be part of quite a few of these and they‘ve always been an amazing experience." Kurtis shares. "It gives you a sense of connection and a feeling of accomplishment to be able to positively impact communities. It‘s also an amazing feeling to return to those sites and see the growth happening over time, knowing your actions continue to increase the impact over time".
One Window, One Tree is not the only sustainable solution at INTUS Windows. The company implements many other eco-friendly initiatives to continue to give back to the environment in any way they can. When INTUS Windows built a new factory, they made sure to also build to some of the strictest performance requirements possible to minimize their energy usage and footprint, by including geothermal heating, solar panels, energy-saving features, and of course high-performance windows among other things. And to not impact tree planting, INTUS company has also gone paper-free!
