Passive House meets affordable housing in New York City. This post-war rental building in The Bronx’s Melrose neighborhood, finished in 2019 and became North America’s largest passive house development. In addition to achieving PHIUS Certification, it’s LEED Silver certified. INTUS Eforte triple pane steel reinforced polymer turn windows are throughout this 15 story multi-family project. The building has 154 units, 46 of which are reserved for formerly homeless tenants as part of NYC’s Our Space program. Spaceworks operates the ground floor which serves as a 4,300 SF community facility and affordable studio and gallery space for local artists.

Another successful energy efficient and affordable building made possible by a public private partnership and $67.71 million in investment, including $28.57 million in tax credit equity.
